Trust is the whole business.
Everything else: the sourcing, the screening, the offer negotiation — is just how we prove it.
The Story
Most people think recruiting is about finding people. It’s not. It’s problem-solving, and it’s one of the most expensive, most important problems a company will ever hand off to someone outside their walls.
I’ve spent over 25 years on both sides of that problem: as a corporate recruiter inside two Fortune 500 companies, and building a staffing firm from the ground up. In 2002, I co-founded one that grew from zero revenue to more than $5M in cumulative sales and, more importantly, to a team of 11 who liked coming to work to build a workplace they genuinely enjoyed.
By 2018, I was back inside a corporate recruiting seat, doing work I was good at and still loved. But I missed something specific: the challenge of building something again.
So I started Bright Metro. Not to “solve the war on talent.” Not to become the biggest recruiting firm.
The real goal is simpler: I wanted to build a company where trust and competence mattered. Where clients could count on us to tell them the truth. Where candidates were treated like people—not transactions. And where the people who worked at Bright Metro could grow professionally while still having time for their personal interests.
There are hundreds of recruiting firms. The ones that last are the ones people can’t help but recommend, because someone had a good experience and wanted the next person to have it too.
Meet Ruben
Ruben Garcia is the founder of Bright Metro.
He began his recruiting career after graduating from the University of Connecticut, spending his first seven years with the world’s largest technical staffing agency. There, he worked alongside exceptional people and found his lifelong career calling.
Every search at Bright Metro runs through Ruben directly. No account managers, no hand-offs — the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
Whether it was 25 years ago or today, this one thing has not changed: The talent you hire is the company you're building. Helping build that, one search at a time, is a genuinely noble problem to spend a career solving.
What That Means for You
If you're hiring:
a partner who values competence and honesty over closing the search fast.
If you're a candidate:
a straight answer — good news or bad — and a process that treats you like a person, not a submission.
If you're on my team:
room to grow, without giving up time with your family or your community.
Proof
I couldn't be more grateful for Ruben's guidance throughout my hiring process with Colgate. His communication was fast, efficient, and supportive from the initial outreach all the way to my signed offer letter. I frequently recommend Ruben to friends searching for their next career move.
Trust isn't a value we list — it's the reason this firm exists.
No pressure. Just a focused conversation. We'll take it from there.
